Orange Pekoe is a blend of highly sort after teas from the best high grown districts of Ceylon. It gets part of its name from the copper colour observed when harvested before oxidation takes place. In the brewed tea, the colour is revived and a golden tinge is noticeable. To be classed as a pekoe, the tea must be composed purely of the new flushes, a flush being the bud plus the two youngest leaves. This tea is characterised by it's strong fresh flavour and aroma.

Orange Pekoe has the ability to reduce chances of a heart attack occurring with the consumption of three or more cups of tea daily. A compound found in this tea, rutin, has antioxidant properties which help counteract free radicals, preventing them from damaging tissues in the body, thus preventing premature aging. Rutin may also help improve venous circulation, which is important in the management of varicose veins. Orange pekoe tea is a natural source of low levels of fluoride, which helps to prevent dental cavities. Like other black teas, the antioxidants in Orange Pekoe tea have a positive effect on decreasing the risk of many types of cancers including: skin, lung, mouth, oesophagus, stomach, colon, pancreas, bladder and prostrate.
